The play «Laço de Sangue», the most recent production by ACTA – The Algarve Theater Company, will be presented on January 13, at 21 pm, in the Municipal Auditorium of Lagoa.

With text by Athol Fugard and staged by Luís Vicente, the show tells the story of two brothers, children of the same mother, one light-skinned and the other dark-skinned, who try to alleviate the tedium of their existence by buying a newspaper so that Zach, dark-skinned and illiterate, might get a match.

By getting a white correspondent, in South Africa under apartheid, a dangerous game is created, where the two brothers begin to enact the great drama of the color barrier, with all the fears and hatreds, locked in a fact and a different skin.

The theater of the South African Athol Fugard has interested the whole world. Although focused on the themes of racism, barbarism and apartheid inhumanity, Fugard's work addresses universal themes and has been internationally acclaimed, revealing to the public the idiosyncrasies of unjust societies, of which the South African under apartheid constituted an unequaled paradigm.

“Laço de Sangue” has the interpretation of Luís Vicente and Mário Spencer.

It lasts for 2:00 hours, without a break, and is suitable for children over 12 years of age. Tickets cost 6 euros, with the usual discounts.
