The Mayor of S. Filipe, in Cape Verde, will make his first official visit to Faro, between December 8th and 10th.
According to the Chamber of Faro, «this visit has a special symbolism, given the existence of a strong community from Ilha do Fogo and, more specifically, from S. Filipe, residing in the parish of Conceição de Faro».
Taking advantage of the occasion, the program of the visit will include a meeting with the Cape Verdean community, followed by a mass and procession in the parish of Conceição de Faro, as well as a visit to various municipal facilities and companies linked to the agricultural and food sector.
During the official visit of Eugénio Veiga, Mayor of S. Filipe to Faro, an agreement of friendship will be signed which, according to the city of Faro, “will make it possible to lay the foundations of a fruitful cooperation in social and cultural terms and serve as a guarantor of the values, references and intangible heritage that unite both cities”.
Asserting itself «attentive to the diversity of immigrant communities in the municipality of Faro», the municipality says that «it is necessary to promote inclusion and strengthen relations with their countries of origin».
