Paulo Pinheiro, administrator of the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, revealed that the AIA is in a period of counter-cycle, contrary to negative forecasts, since, for now, «an occupancy rate above 50% in 2012 and a very attractive sports program is assured. and which will soon be released».

Since its opening in November 2008, the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve has received, both nationally and internationally, several awards and distinctions. The last one happened last November when Infront Motor Sports, the managing body of the Superbike World Championship, awarded the AIA the “Superbike World Championship Organizer Award 2011”.

If this award is of particular importance, there are others that stand out as the “Motorsport Facility of the Year", distinction made by the Professional Motorsport World Expo Awards in 2009 or the reference made by the prestigious British magazine Autosport that elected the Portimão Circuit as one of the best in the world also in 2009.

The AIA was also distinguished by "Fast Bike Magazine" as the Circuit of the Decade, by the Portuguese Federation of Automobile and Karting with the Prestige Prize in 2008 and by countless media outlets that, over the past three years, have marking the Algarve circuit as a reference track.

These achievements make Parkalgar managers aware that they have done a good job: «These recognitions leave us extremely satisfied and with a feeling of accomplishment. We see these distinctions as a team success where, each one in their own way contributes to the final result. It has been three extremely gratifying but very strenuous years and although 2012 is likely to be a difficult year, we are confident that we will be able to overcome adversity and make the best possible use of small achievements», said Paulo Pinheiro.
