The Educational Workshop at the Museum of Portimão will present, as of November 19, as a novelty for the 2011/2012 school year, the Saturdays in the Family, a series of proposals for parents and children to spend their Saturday afternoons in a different way, having fun up and learning together.

“How the Museum works”, “Introduction to Archeology”, “A Dive into History”, “From Sardine to Can”, “First Impression”, “Discovering Prehistory”, “Squares with History”, “Travel through History of the Algarve” and “Ideas and forms in motion” are the activities that this pedagogical service of the Museu de Portimão will provide to the school community of the municipality throughout this school year.

These activities are free of charge and take place from Monday to Friday, between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm and from 14:30 pm to 16:30 pm, aimed at specific target audiences, from pre-school to primary, secondary and university education, as appropriate.

In addition to these activities aimed at the school community and "Saturdays in the Family", the Museum promotes the initiative during Easter and Summer holidays. Museum Vacation, aimed at occupying the free time of young people between 7 and 12 years old. These last two, not being free, are also subject to prior appointment.

The Museum Vacations aim to stimulate creativity, develop the capacity for expression and encourage group work by children, through a set of playful educational activities related to the Museum's collections.
