The CP administration announced the remodeling of the Intercidades train service, which now includes a stop in each of the municipalities crossed, including a stop at the Santa Clara-Sabóia station, in the municipality of Odemira, as of December 12th. .

The decision on the new service on the Southern Line was presented at a meeting with the mayors of Odemira, Ourique and Santiago do Cacém, held on 22 November.

The Municipality of Odemira is pleased with the decision to create, for the first time, an Intercidades train stop in the municipality, as until now there were only technical stops, without a passenger pick-up service.

There has been pressure from the Municipality of Odemira and from the Parish Councils of the interior, namely S. Martinho das Amoreiras, Luzianes-Gare, Santa Clara-a-Velha, Sabóia and Pereiras-Gare with the CP Administration, to demand an adequate rail transport service in the county.

The population of Odemira and its local authorities have been demonstrating against the suppression of regional trains and the closure of stations, restricting mobility and access to the municipality.

"The intercity train stop at the Santa Clara-Sabóia station is of extreme strategic importance for Odemira, namely for the interior of the municipality and especially for the tourist dynamization of the Santa Clara Dam", stresses the Chamber of this municipality of Baixo Alentejo .

CP informed that the Alcácer do Sal bypass will now be used and that the alteration of the route and the new stops of the Intercidades service will reduce its journey times, benefiting the Intercidades Lisboa-Faro e Faro-Lisbon from a 30 minute reduction.

From December 12th, the passage will be made in Setúbal and Alcácer do Sal and there will be one stop per county, namely in Ermidas-Sado (municipality of Santiago do Cacém), Santa Clara-Sabóia (municipality of Odemira) and Funcheira (municipality from Ourique). Three trips will be carried out daily, in a total of six Intercidades trains in both directions.
