The Municipality of Aljezur makes its debut, with the Sweet Potato Festival, which opens its doors on Thursday, December 1st, promoting the environmental sustainability of the events it organizes.

Thus, the Municipality and Algar established an agreement, according to which the Municipality of Aljezur undertakes to create and implement the necessary infrastructure for the correct separation of packaging waste.

After being properly separated on site, this waste is collected and sent to the premises of Algar, the company that ensures its forwarding for recycling.

Among other actions, the "Exhibitor's Environmental Behavior Manual" will be provided to all exhibitors, which must be complied with by all, and bags and containers of a color suitable for the type of waste produced will be made available, in order to facilitate transport and separation of waste. Likewise, a specific training action will be carried out for the cleaning teams.

The Municipality of Aljezur points out that this initiative, which is making its debut at the Sweet Potato Festival, is part of the actions it has been promoting «in order to promote the sustainability of the municipality and the adoption of good environmental practices in the daily lives of citizens and economic activities».

The Sweet Potato Festival opens its doors on Thursday, December 1st, at 12 pm, with its official opening scheduled for 18 pm, with the presence of the Secretary of State for Forests and Rural Development Daniel Campelo.
