The Algarve Regional Museum will stage the cycle “Lectures at the Museum”, on October 13th and 20th and November 10th and 17th, at 17 pm, continuing the commemorations and in the scope of the promotion of the exhibition «Algarve: 00 Years of Institutionalization of Tourism'.

“100 years of the institutionalization of tourism – a museographic process”, by Monika Gruner and Klaus Werner Gruner, “The Ethnographic Museum in the Estado Novo: relations with Tourism”, by Carla Almeida, “100 years of images: Tourism”, by Luís Guerreiro, and “Tourist Circuits: the role of the Museum”, by Cristina Nugas, are the themes to be addressed in the lectures.

In the year that celebrates the Centenary of Tourism in Portugal (1911-2011), the Municipality of Faro, through the Algarve Regional Museum, has been developing initiatives integrated in the commemorations.

On May 16th, the exhibition «Algarve: 100 Years of Institutionalization of Tourism» opened at the Regional Museum of Algarve.

World Tourism Day, on 27 September, was marked with «Tourists from Palmo e Meio», raising awareness of cultural tourism among the youngest.

The cycle “Lectures at the Museum” is organized by the City Council of Faro in partnership with the University of Algarve – School of Management, Hospitality and Tourism and with the support of CCDRAlgarve – Algarve Regional Coordination and Development Commission.
