The show “Fado Maior”, a tribute to fado and the voices, of yesterday and today, that perpetuate this way of feeling sung, is scheduled for Saturday, the 15th, at 21 pm, at the Cine-Teatro São Brás, in São Brás of Alportel.

The group Fado Maior, with Afonso Dias and Ana Marques in the main voices, lends its name to the show in which fado is the protagonist.

Stringed instruments will be Vítor do Carmo (Portuguese guitar), José Santana (Fado guitar) and Tó Correia (double bass) to pay homage to the “greatest representative of Portuguese urban culture”: Fado.

This two-hour show takes on stage interpretations of traditional fados by great names in Portuguese music and poems by some of the most expressive poets of Portuguese culture, including Camões, Eugénio de Andrade, O'Neill, Natália Correia, Florbela Espanca, António Gedeão and David Mourão-Ferreira.

The Fado Maior group also presents several original themes, many of them composed by the artistic director of the concert Afonso Dias.

This is an initiative of the Municipality of São Brás de Alportel, produced by the Cultural Association “Bons Ofícios”, with the support of the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve.

Tickets cost five euros and are on sale at the Municipal Gallery, or on the day of the show, at the Cine-Teatro São Brás ticket office from 20:30.

All holders of the Municipal Senior Card can enjoy a 10% discount on the ticket price.
