On Saturday, October 22, the locality of Cavaleiro, in the municipality of Odemira, will be the stage for the Sweet Potato Festival, in an initiative promoted by the Centro Sportivo Cultural do Cavaleiro, with the support of the Municipality of Odemira and Junta of Parish of S. Teotónio.
Sweet potato is one of the products with a large and growing level of production on the coast of the municipality of Odemira, being highly appreciated by the population. With this initiative, the organization's main objective is to support local producers.
The activities will take place at the Centro Desportivo e Cultural do Cavaleiro, starting at 9 am, with free admission.
In addition to the sale of sweet potatoes and various regional sweets that have this delicacy as their main ingredient, during the event, visitors will also be able to delight in tastings of roasted and boiled sweet potatoes.
The Cavaleiro's Sweet Potato Festival starts at 9 am, with the opening of themed tents and an exhibition of handicrafts. At 15 pm, a debate on the theme of “Sweet potato production and marketing” is scheduled, which will be attended by Hélder Guerreiro, vice-president of the Municipality of Odemira and the president of the Potato Producers Association. sweet from Aljezur.
In addition to the highly diversified program with a display of products based on sweet potatoes, handicrafts and a period of reflection, the feast day ends with a lively dance scheduled for 21 pm.
