José Manuel do Carmo, BE member of the Tavira Municipal Assembly, affirmed the urgency of installing the long-awaited fishing support by the local fishing community.

Understanding that "fishing is an activity to which Tavira owes the city's cultural image" and that "a lot can contribute to local economic development", the Left Block defended, last Monday, in the Municipal Assembly, the urgency of the installation of the Support for Fishing and asked to be informed about the development of this matter “all the more so as the term of the contracts with the State may be running out”, said José Manuel do Carmo.

Having not received any response on this matter from the municipal executive, the BE member of the Municipal Assembly considers that “we are certain that the answer will be given directly to the fishermen, now that, as a result of our insistence, the issue has moved to the agenda ”.

Considering that it has “the worst fears that the Fishing Port will not materialize”, the Left Block requested information on the Government's reasons for preventing the award of the contract between IPTM and the contractor, which even IPTM is unaware of.

The amazing thing is, still according to José Manuel do Carmo “being something that everyone considers very important, no one knows anything about the subject, nor has they worried about it. Neither the director of IPTM, nor the members of the Municipal Assembly of the same governing party (PSD). Go there, there is a Left Block”, he stated.
