The awards ceremony for the 11th Portimão Photographic Race will take place at the Portimão Museum on September 17, at 18 pm, in a ceremony that will precede the inauguration of the exhibition with the winning works in the largest photographic marathon south of the Tagus.

This year, the Photographic Race registered the highest number of entries ever, since its first edition in 2001, with 240 amateur photographers from various regions of the country and some foreigners, representing all ages and professions, with emphasis on teachers and students.

In analogue mode there were 29 entries, in digital 199 and in underwater 12 photographers, who had the opportunity to discover a renewed look at aspects of the municipality's cultural and natural heritage, its people, activities and experiences, through photographic interpretation and creativity .

As the analogue modality has been constantly losing participants, in contrast to the digital photography that sees its number of participants increasing every year, the organization is seriously considering the possibility of restricting the next edition of the Portimão Photographic Race to only digital and underwater modalities.

The exhibition, with free entry, can be seen until January 29, on Tuesdays, from 14:30 pm to 18:00 pm and from Wednesday to Sunday, from 10:00 am to 18:00 pm.

On the same date, the traveling exhibition relating to the “Outros Mercadus'10” Award will also be inaugurated in the Museum's entrance hall, which can be seen until the 30th of October.

This award, promoted by the company Outros Mercadus, aims to distinguish the public recognition of works of architecture, design and ephemeral spaces, and extends to the most different areas of culture, such as cinema, theater, exhibitions or public spaces and whose design common is the concept of non-perpetuity.

On the other hand, the Portimão Museum is once again extending the season of the “Submerged Art” exhibition, which can also be seen until October 30, and which brings together two hundred pieces shaped by the Swiss Sylvain Bongard.
