Guided tours of the city's Old Town, and exhibitions at the Municipal Library and at the Archeology Museum are the highlights of the commemorations of the European Heritage Days, in Albufeira. 

The Municipality of Albufeira is associated with the commemorations of the European Heritage Days 2011, an annual initiative of the Council of Europe and the European Union, which involves around 50 countries, in the context of raising citizens' awareness of the importance of safeguarding Heritage. 

From the 23rd to the 25th of September, the county will be the stage for various activities. On Friday, at 15 pm, the Lídia Jorge Municipal Library will host the screening of the scientific documentary “Preservation of Traditional Exterior Coatings”, which is a reflection on the contribution we can make to its preservation. 

After viewing the film, participants will be invited to visit the exhibition on the theme “Heritage and Landscape”, shown at the Municipal Library. 

Over the three days, the Municipal Museum of Archeology will carry out guided visits to the city's Old Town. 

On the 23rd of September, the documental exhibition of architectural projects of old buildings that marked Albufeira's urban evolution opens to the public. The exhibition will be on display at the Archeology Museum until the end of the year. 

On the 24th, Saturday, the discovery visit “Fragments of buildings, fragments of stories” will take place, which invites the public to take a new look at the urban landscape and the heritage that constitutes it. 

Departing from Praça da República, participants will see some of the most representative buildings of the old town of Albufeira, at two available times: from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm or from 14:00 pm to 16:00 pm. On Friday, the 23rd, this visit is aimed at schools.
