Updating the tariff on Urban Public Transport – Come and Go – Portimão Urban Circuit will be discussed this Wednesday, September 21, at a Chamber meeting. The new tariff will take effect from October 1st.
The update proposal assumes an average increase of 13%, «a value lower than that defined by the Government for urban public transport in the metropolitan areas of Lisbon and Porto», stresses the Portimão City Council in a statement.
The municipality recalls that the last update of the tariff “dated from April 2010”.
The proposal foresees an increase of 16% in tickets purchased on board, commonly used by tourists, 13% in the case of pre-purchased tickets (non-regular users) and 10% in monthly passes (which are the most used by the local community) .
A total of 67% of Vai e Vem users use a pass, so the 10% increase in the monthly fee represents an additional cost per trip of 5 cents.
The municipality says it has opted for "an update that penalizes residents in Portimão and regular users less"
