Five million euros to reimburse parishes for expenses with the pandemic

The Program recognizes the role of parishes in the first line of response to the pandemic

The Regulation of the Support Parishes Programme, which will make it possible to reimburse these municipalities for the expenses they incurred throughout 2020, within the scope of the Public Health emergency of the Covid-19 disease, was published in Diário da República, announced the Coordination Commission and Regional Development (CCDR) of the Algarve.

The Support Parishes Programme, with a global allocation of five million euros, will cover these expenses 100%, up to a maximum of 75 thousand euros per parish, upon prior application to CCDR Algarve.

Expenses with medical equipment and devices, personal protective equipment, tests, laboratory analyzes and other means of diagnosis, medicines, emergency assistance to the vulnerable population, awareness-raising and signaling actions related to disease prevention and disinfection and availability actions may be financed. of disinfectants. When not recoverable under current legislation, VAT will also be considered an eligible expense.

The Program recognizes the role of parishes in the first line of response to the pandemic, both in prevention, and in protecting and supporting the population, especially the most vulnerable, responses that proved to be fundamental to overcome an unprecedented health crisis.

It also guarantees equal treatment for Local Authorities, placing parishes in the same conditions as municipalities and inter-municipal entities, also reimbursed for expenses in the same scope.

Support is available to all parishes in the Region, upon submission of an application to the Algarve CCDR by April 17th.
