The cycle of «Winter Conferences – History of the Algarve», organized by Casa Álvaro de Campos at the Municipal Library of Tavira, continues next Saturday, January 21st, at 17 pm, with the theme «Reorientations and transformations of the church of the Convent of S. . Francisco de Tavira», with historian Marco Sousa Santos.
This cycle, which began last Saturday, with the conference «Speaking stones: family heraldry in the Algarve | Disseminating, interpreting and historically contextualizing some of the weapons found in the Algarve», by Óscar Caeiro Pinto, continues on the 4th and 18th of February, always at 17 pm.
Andreia Fidalgo will speak on «The “hateful difference”: the Kingdom of the Algarve at the time of the Marquis of Pombal», on the 4th, while Fernando Pessanha, on the 18th of February, will address the theme «The expedition of the corsair D. Gonçalo Camelo to coasts of Huelva, in 1336».
These are, therefore, different perspectives presented by researchers on aspects that are still little known about the History of the Algarve, which increases the interest of these «Conferences in Winter», at the Municipal Library of Tavira, always with free entrance.
