Portimão organizes bone marrow collection

The Portimão City Council is organizing a bone marrow collection campaign for young Portimão Henrique Gil Martins Camacho, on the 6th of August, between 9:00 am and 16:00 pm. 

Henrique was born in Portimão in 2006 and is being monitored by the Pediatrics medical team at the Faro from the Centro Hospitalar Universitário do Algarve (CHUA), as well as by the IPO – Lisbon, this collection being articulated with the CHUA – Portimão.

In a press release, the municipality clarifies that bone marrow donors must be between 18 and 45 years old, be healthy, weigh a minimum of 50 kilos and measure more than one and a half meters, having never received blood transfusions after 1980.

The initiative, «with an urgent nature», has the support of Portimão City Council, CHUA and the Portuguese Association Against Leukemia. More information can be clarified with the Municipal Civil Protection Service of Portimão, through the telephone number 808 282 112.
