“The Great Dictator” helps the Cineclube of Faro blowing out 66 candles

Farense Cineclub celebrates its birthday today

The Film Club of Faro celebrates its 66th birthday today and will celebrate with the screening of Charlie Chaplin's film "The Great Dictator", at 21:00, at the Regional Directorate of the Portuguese Institute of Sports and Youth, in Faro.

Today, "a new campaign to attract members is also launched, with an amnesty for dues in arrears until 2022 and, for new registrations, the reduction of the 2022 annual fee from 30 to 15 euros", according to Cineclube Farense.

The last 66 years were, according to this cultural agent from the Algarve capital, «made of many faces, sweat, some tears, blood (certainly), smiles and hugs (no doubt), burnt eyelashes (some), but above all a lot of wonder , fantasy, friendship and sharing», for «love for cinema and cineclubism».

«We continue together, but we want to continue, more, and more together, in the unshakable conviction that the 67, 68, 69, 80, 100 are based on the (almost) 4500 partners who have built this history and many more who will continue it”.

In April, in addition to the special anniversary session, scheduled for today, there are regular sessions, on Thursdays, at 21:30 pm, at the IPDJ.

This month, the Cineclube de Faro wants to give «visibility to Portuguese films by emerging authors, because we are interested in seeing and discussing where Portuguese Cinema is heading».

Tomorrow, April 7th, the session will be dedicated to university cinema. Next, on the 14th, are two films by António Aleixo, the feature film “Dispersos pelo Centro” and the short film “I wanted to know who I am”.

On the 21st, two works will also be shown: “Dystopia”, by Tiago Afonso – who will be present at the session, and “Hotel Royal”, by Salomé Lamas. In turn, Marta Sousa Ribeiro, the director of “Simon Chama”, will be present in Faro on the 28th of April, the day your film will be shown.

«On the 23rd, we give voice to the anti-racist fight, in the presence of Miguel Dores, director of “Alcindo”», added Cineclube de Faro.
