Lagos hosts 1st Algarve Breast Cancer Congress

The initiative will take place on the 18th of February at the Hotel Vila Galé de Lagos

The 1st Breast Cancer Congress in the Algarve will take place on February 18, at 8:45 am, at the Hotel Vila Galé de Lagos, as part of an initiative by Tecnifisio, with a contribution to the registration to be donated to the Oncological Association of the Algarve.

This congress aims to «approach this condition in a multidisciplinary and biopsychosocial way», promoting «empowerment and knowledge to all who, from one moment to the next, are faced with this diagnosis», says Tecnifisio, organizer of the initiative.

«We believe that health literacy offers, in any course of a disease, greater motivation and commitment to overcome it, as it demystifies fears and taboos, so harmful to quality of life and well-being».

According to Tecnifisio, based on the American Cancer Society, «advances in diagnosis and treatment have increased the survival rate of cancer patients».

However, “the problems related to cancer treatments remain, namely temporary or permanent disabilities, which make these patients feel the need to seek solutions to increase their quality of life”.

The congress is intended for all cancer patients, family members, as well as health professionals who, not being directly linked to the field of Oncology, feel the need to deepen their knowledge on this subject.

It is organized by Tânia Camilo, physiotherapist and CEO of Tecnifisio, Jacqueline Tavares, physiotherapist and coordinator of the Oncology area at Tecnifisio, and by Conceição Andrade, physiotherapist at Mama Help Lisboa and collaborator at the Champalimaud Foundation.

Registration, which is mandatory, costs five euros, which will be donated to the Oncological Association of the Algarve.

To register, you can do so through the website or in person at Tecnifisio, in Lagos.
