Portimão: Inclusive project gives voice to children and young people in the Cruz da Midteira neighborhood

Stimulating creativity, while preventing deviant behavior, is the objective of “PorTiArtista”

Giving voice and stimulating the musical skills of children and young people in the Cruz da Parteira neighborhood, in Portimão, «creating conditions for this socially disadvantaged group to feed their artistic dreams, while preventing deviant behavior and encouraging civic participation », is the objective of the “PorTiArtista” project, which is being promoted by Associação Dança Mais in partnership with the Chamber of Portimão.

This initiative «consists of creating a multimedia studio in an existing space at the Cruz da Midteira Community Center», which becomes a place «where creativity can be explored and accompanied, by encouraging writing, the construction of content and the development of musical productions and choreography», according to the Portimão Chamber.

All of this happens «at the same time as reducing existing social vulnerabilities, preventing juvenile delinquency in the target audience and encouraging their mental and physical health».

«The multimedia studio, currently in the process of being installed in an existing room in the Community Center, will be equipped with computer equipment, sound and video image production and will have appropriate software for the production of content, with learning and teaching of the tools to be used by young people, with the introduction of information and communication technologies», added the municipality.

Workshops will also be promoted to promote dance and body expression techniques, «in order to provide specialized knowledge in the field of artistic representation».

In the end, an anthem will be created for the neighborhood of Cruz da Parteira, as well as a video clip, «in a process that aims to involve the community and demonstrate how the various cultures residing there cohabit, through the dissemination of their life context and the demystification of stereotypes».

Even so, there is already work to be done, since one of the first activities of this project was the recording of a video created by the children and young people of Cruz da Mideira with a theme to encourage Edmundo Inácio and João Leote, two artists from Portimão who were finalists in the contest "The Voice Portugal".

“PorTiArtista” is part of a group of three projects approved for Portimão, out of a total of 246 that started last December across the country, within the scope of the government program Bairros Saudáveis.

The entity promoting the project is Associação Dança Mais, in partnership with the Municipality of Portimão, as part of this initiative in the areas of social and health intervention in the Cruz da Midteira neighborhood.

The project will last for one year and it will be up to the Municipality of Portimão to provide the physical space and the respective dynamization of “PorTiArtista”, through the technical team of the municipal project (Re)Viver o Meu Bairro, which monitors the population living there on a daily basis. in the neighborhood of Cruz da Midteira.
