The Algarve University Hospital Center (CHUA) and the Algarve Regional Directorate for Agriculture and Fisheries (DRAP) celebrated, last Saturday, 16 October, World Food Day with a visit to the Tavira Agricultural Experimentation Center (CEAT) .

This visit, within the scope of the cycle Hoscult – Heritage Health», brought together about 30 participants.

The objective was to make known the largest collection of traditional varieties of fruit trees and vine varieties in the Algarve and Portugal, over 29 hectares at the Tavira Agrarian Experimentation Centre.

Guided by Cristina Fé Santos, from CHUA's Office of Communication and External Relations, and António Marreiros, engineer at DRAP Algarve, this visit was further enriched by the contribution of Luísa Geada, coordinator of the CHUA's Dietetics and Nutrition Service, warning of the importance of healthy habits and lifestyles and the choice of fresh seasonal products.

According to the organization, the objective was "to involve the hospital's human capital and the Algarve community with a view to involvement and knowledge of the region's health history."

This visit also raised awareness of the challenges that the maintenance of the CEAT requires from everyone involved for the preservation of biodiversity in the Algarve region.

Last September, the Hoscult – Heritage Health project visited São Brás de Alportel, accompanied by the Sul Informação.
