Monchique Chamber starts to provide supplement for hardship and unhealthy conditions

Supplement will be awarded from this month, with retroactives from January

The Municipality of Monchique will start assigning a supplement of hardship and unhealthy conditions to its workers who perform functions in areas such as garbage collection and cemeteries, among others.

This extra remuneration will be given to "operational assistant career holders in the areas of waste collection and treatment and effluent treatment, urban hygiene, sanitation, cemetery and others that result in a proven functional overload that increases the probability of occurrence of injury or a potential aggravated risk of deteriorating health status”, explained the municipality.

This supplement is attributed "for each day of work actually performed in which a certain level of unhealthy or difficult (low, medium or high) is recognized, with this municipality having decided on the daily value of 4,99 euros and 15% of the daily base salary ».

"The amount needed to process the supplement for hardship and unhealthy conditions is provided for in the municipal budget of this municipality for 2021, and therefore its allocation is financially supported," added the Monchique City Council, in a press release.

For Rui André, president of the municipality, «this supplement is seen as an assertive compensation, due to the nature of the functions performed», but also «for the recognition that many of them represent for a good service and guarantee of the population's well-being, serving basic needs , without which it is impossible to guarantee a good quality of life for the population».

«In a time of pandemic, with even more demanding rules and procedures, at no time did these workers question the continuity of these services, on the contrary, they did so with the required delivery and operability. It is therefore fair to grant this supplement, which can represent an increase of more than 100 euros per month, which is of increased importance when most of these workers receive, as a general rule, the national minimum wage," he added the mayor.

The workers of the Municipality of Monchique will receive this supplement for hardship and unhealthy conditions from the current month of April, with retroactive effects from January.
