Disembarkation of passengers at national ports and land licenses for passengers and cruise ship crews will remain prohibited until 23:59 on Nov. 14, according to a government dispatch published on Saturday.

This ban, which is due to the Covid-19 pandemic, has been in effect since May 14 and has been successively extended by the Government.

"The aforementioned interdiction, as well as subsequent extensions", are justified "as containment measures for possible lines of contagion, in order to control the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and Covid-19 disease. The epidemiological situation, both in Portugal and in other countries, remains to be controlled”, the dispatch reads.

The ministers of Defence, Internal Administration, Health and Infrastructure signed the dispatch, dated October 30, and published Saturday night in the Diário da República.

“International experience demonstrates the high risk arising from the disembarkation of passengers and crew from cruise ships”, the dispatch reads.
