The marinas of Albufeira, Lagos and Vilamoura boast the maximum rating of 5 «gold anchors» awarded by The Yacht Harbor Association and place the Algarve in the lead of nautical tourism at the national level.According to that international association of marinas and marinas, the classification of 5 “gold anchors” is “a sure sign that we are in a credible and quality marina”. The three awarded marinas also won the «Blue Flag», a symbol of reference in environmental quality. Nautical tourism is one of the 10 strategic products defined in the National Strategic Plan for Tourism (PENT) for its market share and growth potential, and is one of the five primary motivations for attracting tourists to the Algarve proposed in the document Alignment of the Algarve Regional Tourism Plan with PENT.
