The Municipality of Olhão decided to join the humanitarian project that is being developed by ACASO – Cultural and Social Support Association of Olhão with the population of Vila Nova de Oliveirinha, a locality in the municipality of Tábua affected by the fires last October.

Following the tragedy that occurred on October 15, 2017, which destroyed a large part of the cultural and identity heritage of that locality, ACASO, through a group of users of the Al-Hain Community Center involved in the “Legends and Rendas” project, intends contribute to the cultural and artistic dynamism of the devastated region, giving life back to emblematic spaces in the village of Coimbra district that lost their liveliness with the fires.

In this sense, at the beginning of March, a group of users of the project “Lendas e Rendas” will travel to Vila Nova de Oliveirinha, to interact and contribute, together with the local population, to the artistic creation of the pieces to be exhibited.

Along with this delegation, he follows the help of the local authority, which decided to contribute 60 sets of traditional food products from Olhão. Alongside this collaboration, and in partnership with Conserveira do Sul, canned food also follow, which will also be delivered to the population.

"It is a source of immense satisfaction to see the dynamism and solidarity spirit of this council's IPSS, which was not indifferent to a tragedy that happened far away, but that touched us all so closely", says councilwoman Elsa Parreira, adding that " we are happy to add our contribution to the mission of ACASO, as we could not focus indifferently to this very meritorious effort”.

The mayor concludes, thanking the company Conserveira do Sul, “which, once again, knew how to say 'present' and add its contribution to ours”.
