Mental Health 360º Algarve hosts a free session on medication safety

The session takes place in the auditorium of the Hospital Center of the University of Algarve, in Faro

The next information session of the Mental Health Project 360º Algarve will focus on “Medication Safety” and will take place on April 12th, at 15pm, in the auditorium of the Hospital Center of the University of Algarve, in Faro.

The Mental Health project 360º Algarve is promoted by Plataforma Saúde em Diálogo and financed by Fundação Belmiro de Azevedo, Municipalities of Faro, Loulé and Olhão, as part of the “Health in Day” activity.

In a note, the project highlights that “the medicine safety is a fundamental pillar of public health" and that, therefore, "it is necessary to raise awareness among the population of the importance of the safe use of medicines, as well as the role of citizens in promoting it, namely through the notification of suspected adverse drug reactions”.

The session will be led by Margarida Espírito Santo, pharmacist, professor at the University of Algarve and president of the Scientific Council of the Pharmacovigilance Unit of the Algarve and Baixo Alentejo.

«Investing in health literacy and empowering people to navigate the health system and make responsible decisions is increasingly important. All of this contributes to improving the quality of life of citizens and the sustainability of the health system», explains Ricardo Valente Santos, psychologist and manager of the Saúde Mental 360º Algarve project.

The “Saúde em Dia” information sessions were created with the aim of «clarifying the Algarve population on important topics related to the area of health and disease prevention and management, through simple and objective communication that demystifies some concepts».

The initiative is free and open to the general public.
