Olhão lifeguards help sailboat crew who got stranded at the entrance to the bar

Man, Swedish nationality, did not require medical assistance

The crew of a sailboat that was stranded at the entrance to the Olhão bar, after running out of propulsion, was helped by the Olhão Lifeguard, today, Monday, the 8th, early in the afternoon.

At around 14:15 pm, a person who was in the area alerted a sailboat that ran aground after running out of propulsion at the entrance to the Olhão bar.

The National Maritime Authority (AMN) sent crew members from the Olhão Life Saving Station to the scene, as well as members of the Olhão Maritime Police Local Command, who “found that the only crew member on board the injured vessel, a man of nationality Swedish, was physically well, without needing medical assistance, having transported the sailboat to the vicinity of the shelter port of Culatra Island».

«The owner has been notified and will only be able to sail again after undergoing an inspection, in order to ensure normal navigability conditions», added the AMN.

The local command of the Olhão Maritime Police took care of the incident.
