The Algarve Regional School Sports MTB-XCO Championship, which takes place on April 18th, will take place in Castro Marim, in Sítio da Espargosa, between 10am and 00pm.
11 groups from 10 schools in the region should participate in this activity, with around 150 students from the 5th to the 12th year of schooling.
According to the Municipality of Castro Marim, one of the objectives is “to provide coexistence between students and teachers, at the same time that participants are in direct competition, on more or less technical trails, always complying with the rules of fair play and to respect nature with regard to fauna and flora».
During the day, five races will take place, with two different characteristics: the small one with 1650 meters and 15 meters of elevation difference, and the large one with 2500 meters and 32 meters of elevation difference.
The initiative is organized by the D. José I School Group of Vila Real de Santo António, with School Sports Coordination from the Regional Directorate of Regional Services of the Algarve and support from the Municipality of Castro Marim.
