The Maritime Police seized 14 fishing gear in an inspection action aimed at trawling activity by hand hook, on foot and by boat, on the coast of the island of Armona and Ria Formosa, carried out in the early hours of today, April 18 .
During this action, four vessels were inspected, two fishing and two recreational, one of which was allegedly in violation due to lack of registration and documentation.
The Maritime Police also detected three individuals engaged in illegal fishing activity, who fled, abandoning their fishing gear, known as “hand hooks”, at the scene.
Six members of the Olhão Maritime Police Local Command were involved in this action, supported by a jet ski, a boat and a vehicle.
