Museu do Traje de São Brás de Alportel was one of the 4 speakers at the Spring Days

Spring Days took place at Palácio da Ajuda, in Lisbon, on March 25th

Emanuel Sancho and Vânia Mendonça, researchers at the São Brás de Alportel Costume Museum, presented “The Museum as a Space for Dialogue – Co-creation and Empowerment of Communities” at the Spring Days, of ICOM Portugal (International Council of Museums), which took place at Palácio da Ajuda, in Lisbon, on March 25th. 

“Freedom and autonomy”, values ​​defended by the Museu do Traje as an essential condition for the performance of museological functions of a social nature (Social Museology) “constituted the essence of the intervention of that Algarve museum” in the recent Spring Days of ICOM Portugal – the main structure world-class museum, associated with UNESCO / UN.

In addition to the São Brás de Alportel Costume Museum, the Porto, Torres Novas and Alcobaça Museums were speakers.

In a note, the Museu do Traje states that the audience present was mostly made up of museum professionals «who were very participative in the questions posed to the lecturers».
