IPDJ marks World Physical Activity Day with open class

In the Algarve, the activity takes place on the 8th of April

The Institute of Sports and Youth (IPDJ) will mark World Physical Activity Day and International Sports Day for Development and Peace, which will be celebrated on April 6th, with a class open to the population.

In the Algarve, the IPDJ regional management will hold an open class on April 8th, starting at 11:30 am, on the terrace of our facilities.

«These days are a global initiative, aimed at promoting physical activity and sport among the entire population, encouraging regular practice and the acquisition of healthy lifestyle habits. With its celebration, we seek to contribute to disseminating among the Portuguese population the recommendations of the World Health Organization for the population: for adults, perform at least 150 minutes per week of physical activity of moderate to vigorous intensity, or 75 minutes of vigorous physical activity, and for children and young people to perform at least 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous intensity physical activity daily”, reads the note sent by the IPDJ.

In this sense, the institute invites entities to contribute to this initiative. To register your activities, you must contact https://beactiveportugal.ipdj.pt/adicionar-atividade/, select the “Initiative” tab and World Physical Activity Day.
