«Elogio ao 1/2», film by Pedro Sena Nunes, about the SAAL neighborhood of Meia Praia (Lagos), produced in the context of Faro National Capital of Culture 2005, will be shown at Algarcine cinemas, in Portimão, on April 25th, at 21pm.

The 25 de Abril neighborhood of Meia Praia is between the beach and the train line that leads to the city of Lagos. It began as a set of huts built, improvised, by “Indians” coming from Monte Gordo who just wanted to survive the golden dream that Lagos was unable to fulfill.
After April 25, 1974, and through the operations of the Local Ambulatory Support Service (SAAL), which involved some of the best Portuguese architects of the time, namely, in the case of Meia Praia, the Lacobrigense José Veloso, the huts were transformed into houses built by the inhabitants themselves. Many of the political promises made fifty years ago remain unfulfilled. What will it be like to live in Meia-Praia today?
Pedro Sena Nunes finished the Cinema Course in 1992 at the Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema. He was co-founder of Companhia Teatro Meridional, Apordoc – por documentary and Avanti.pt.
At ETIC, in addition to being a teacher and project coordinator, he took on pedagogical and creative coordination, designing courses and pedagogical and artistic projects in an authorial dimension.
He is a member of the Portuguese Association of Directors, professor and co-artistic director of Vo'Arte where he co-directs the InShadow Festival, the InArt Festival and also CiM – Companhia de Dança. He has several awards and distinctions in the areas of photography, video and cinema.
