The Chamber of Faro will teach primary school students “1 steps to grow strong and healthy”, under an initiative that will take place between April and June at primary schools in Bordeira, Conceição, Estoi and Santa Bárbara de Nexe.

This initiative, carried out within the scope of the Program Faro Saudável – Health for all, “aims to provide students with knowledge about healthy eating, while teaching children how to make and prepare meals, creating positive attitudes towards food and eating and promoting understanding of the relationship between food and health", according to the municipality.

«The initiative embodies the idea that promoting food and nutritional literacy involves teaching how to make and providing skills in the area of planning, purchasing and preparing food».

The municipality will transmit these concepts to children «through theoretical, sensorial, practical and practical experiences, involving stories, manual work, among other pedagogical resources used to facilitate the construction of knowledge, throughout 24 sessions guided by the Municipality's nutritionist».
