The Portimão Freedom Race, which will take place on April 25th, at 10 am, already has four hundred participants of all ages, but is still accepting more people.
The event is part of one of the highlights of the program prepared by the Chamber to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the Carnation Revolution, under the motto “Portimão, Democratic Land”, starting and ending in the city's riverside area.
Throughout the 10 kilometers of the Freedom Race, athletes will pass through Av. Capitão Fernandes Leão Pacheco, Estrada da Rocha, Av. Tomás Cabreira, Rua da Falésia, Estrada do Vau and Av. das Comunidades Lusíadas.
There will also be a competition aimed at children and young people born between 2009 and 2019, with distances between 300 and 1500 meters, in addition to the walk open to everyone, over a distance of five kilometers, which represents the big news in this year's edition.
Registration remains open for each of the three options, with the following values; 10 kilometer run – 12 euros; walk – 10 euros; race for the little ones – 3 euros.
All registered participants will be entitled to an athlete's kit, which must be collected at the old Lota building, on the following dates: 23rd, between 14pm and 00pm; 19th, between 00am and 24pm. To collect the kit, it will be necessary to present an identification document and confirmation of the registration received by email, after payment.
The top three men and women in the 10 kilometer race will receive a trophy, while all those who cross the finish line will be entitled to a participation medal.
On the morning of April 25th, and due to the 18th Freedom Race, from 8:00 am, there will be traffic restrictions on Rua da Falésia, Av. Tomás Cabreira and Estrada da Rocha, with a ban on road traffic throughout the entire perimeter of the city. test from 9:30 am and, predictably, until 11:30 am.
The Portimão Freedom Race is organized by the City Council and is technically organized by HMS Sports, with sponsorship from Gymnasium Socialgar Seguros, Noiseless, Aqua Hotels Spa Resorts, Burguer Ranch and Agrupamento do Corpo Nacional de Escutas 1398 – Paróquia de Nossa Lady of Amparo.

At 9:00 there is a race for children and young people, at 9:40 a warm-up, at 10:00 a 10-kilometer run and a 5-kilometer walk, at 11:00 there is a podium ceremony for the 10-kilometer race and at 12:00 the event ends.
