ABC opens Surgical Simulation and Training Center in Loulé

The Algarve Biomedical Center (ABC) will officially open this Thursday, April 18th, in Loulé, the Surgical Simulation and Training Center, which «will allow training and enhancing the capabilities of professionals and medical students in the region in the surgical area». 

The unit, which operates on Rua de Betunes, received in Last November the visit of Ana Abrunhosa, at the time, Minister of Territorial Cohesion.

According to the ABC, this Center «aims to develop new translational and clinical research projects in the medical-surgical fields, as well as in the area of ​​intensive care, with a special focus on neuroscience, oncology, and the cardiovascular area» and « will enable the development of innovative techniques by promoting advanced simulation and experimental surgery courses, using high-performance models and virtual reality».

In this location, it will be possible to find an experimental surgery unit and a state-of-the-art anatomical theater, where professionals can train their skills and develop new skills.

Starting this year, the Surgical Simulation and Training Center by ABC will develop advanced training courses, in which healthcare professionals will be able to deepen or acquire knowledge in innovative techniques, as well as develop or test new therapeutic approaches, equipment and medical devices in emerging areas of surgery and intensive care.
