Maritime Police seize 30 kilos of bivalves illegally caught in Ria Formosa

21 people were identified

The Maritime Police seized 22 kilos of clams and 8 kilos of cockles from 21 people who were “in an irregular situation due to the lack of licensing, excessive capture and use of unauthorized utensils”, in an inspection carried out today, March 11th. , between Quatro-Águas (Tavira) and the Almargem river (Cabanas de Tavira).

In addition to identifying the 21 people, members of the Tavira Maritime Police Local Command prepared a report and seized the 30 kilos of bivalves, as a precautionary measure, «which, as they were alive, were returned to their natural habitat» .

Five members of the Tavira Maritime Police Local Command were involved in this action, supported by a vessel, a jet ski and two vehicles.
