Odeleite returns to being “Florida Village” but with special attention to the lack of water

The initiative aims to launch a challenge and encourage the inhabitants of the village, making it pleasant to live in and attractive to visit

Odeleite will once again become a “Florida Village” on May 1st, by the hands of its inhabitants, who will decorate their patios, windows and corners of houses and establishments with flowers. Due to the drought, «this year the focus will be on the use of flowers produced with other materials such as paper, wood and fabric or highly resistant species with low water consumption», explain the organizers.

«The presence of flowers in homes and establishments in Odeleite is already a habit, but this initiative, which has already been in 10 editions, aims to launch a challenge and encourage the inhabitants of the village, making it pleasant to live in and attractive to visit» , they emphasize.

The Parish Council of Odeleite, within the municipality of Castro Marim, which organizes this initiative with the Social Association of the Parish of Odeleite, has flowers to deliver to the village's inhabitants, so that the terraces, balconies and staircases gain more color.

Recognized for its uniqueness, the village of Odeleite is considered one of the most typical in the Algarve region, and also aims to be one of the most flowery.

This initiative culminates with the Labor Day celebrations, celebrated in Odeleite on May 1st.
