Loulé hosts first international volleyball competition

European Golden League 2024 takes place at Pavilhão Municipal Professor Joaquim Vairinhos in May

The Professor Joaquim Vairinhos Municipal Pavilion, in Loulé, will host, for the first time, on the 17th, 18th and 19th of May, an international volleyball competition: the European Golden League 2024.

The competition takes place as part of the European Championship, which guarantees qualification for the Volleyball Nations League. Portugal is present in the competition, alongside Spain and Luxembourg.

The National Senior Men's Team, led by João José, makes its debut in the European Golden League, against Luxembourg (Friday, 17th) and Spain (Sunday, 19th), while the Luxembourgers and the Spanish meet on Saturday ( May 18th).

This year, the 2024 European Golden League presents a new format: the 12 participating teams will no longer be divided into fixed pools, but each will have the opportunity to host a tournament where they will always have different opponents, for a total of six opponents. .

With three teams in each tournament, the organizer will always play on Friday and Sunday, while the visitors will face each other on Saturday.

The classification will include all teams and the four best placed will qualify for the Final Four, scheduled for the 14th, 15th and 16th of June, in Croatia.
