João Ribeiro awarded in national photography competition in Spain

The photographer is a teacher at Escola Profissional Gil Eanes de Portimão

Photographer João Ribeiro was awarded the Spanish National Photography Prize, which took place in Gibraleón, province of Huelva.

With a career spanning more than 25 years dedicated to the art of photography and cultural promotion through contemporary art, João Ribeiro stood out for his ability to capture unique moments and construct captivating visual narratives.

His work reflects not only a refined technical eye, but also a deep artistic sensitivity that resonates with the public.

“It is a great honor for me, especially being the second time and the first Portuguese to win this award in Spain and in two different years (2021 and 2024)” – stated João Ribeiro.

“I dedicate this recognition to all my companions who have supported and inspired me on this artistic journey”. We remember that in 2021 João Ribeiro had been highlighted and awarded the National Prize in the same event, having at the time been the first foreigner to be awarded this national prize in Spain.

João Ribeiro is also recognized for his commitment to teaching photography, at Escola Profissional Gil Eanes de Portimão, and promoting photography as a form of artistic expression in contemporary art.

It has played a fundamental role in training new talents and promoting the importance of photography in contemporary society.

The Spanish National Photography Prize is a highly prestigious distinction in the world of visual art, and the award to João Ribeiro highlights not only his excellence as a photographer, but also his lasting impact on the cross-border cultural scene.
