Guia has a new roundabout to “improve mobility and safety”

Infrastructure opened this week

A new roundabout, which will contribute «to improving the mobility and safety of motorists and pedestrians», was inaugurated on Monday, the 4th, in Guia, in Albufeira.

The infrastructure «was built on one of the busiest roads in the town, for those traveling from the Páteo area (Albufeira) towards the center of the town», according to Albufeira City Council.

According to José Carlos Rolo, this new roundabout, in which 170 thousand euros were invested, «presents a landscape arrangement inspired by sea waves and climate change».

«This is a roundabout that benefits the issue of mobility, as it is a very conflictual area, due to the traffic that exists on this road», added the mayor, who says that the municipality wants to continue investing «in promoting safety, sustainability and quality of life of the local community».

Francisco Oliveira, president of the Albufeira Municipal Assembly, reinforced that «this is another work included in the strategy defined by the municipality to improve accessibility and reduce accidents in the municipality».

«With the construction of this new road infrastructure, the municipality intends to promote the fluidity of traffic and improve the safety of motorists and the renewal of the locality's rainwater network», highlighted the Albufeira Chamber.

«Inspired by sea waves and the need to adapt to climate change, the project features four planted areas and a stay area, located on a small free plot of land between the Rua do Mercado sidewalk and the Rua das Escolas sidewalk. Additionally, the work considered other aspects, such as the disposal of solid waste and the installation of new ecological islands on site», he concluded.
