The Holy Week celebrations in the Parish of Tavira, which take place from the 24th to the 31st of March, will mobilize the community, for “an extensive program of actions that celebrate one of the most important moments in the Catholic religious calendar, the moment that remembers the last days of earthly life of Christ and which culminate, on Easter Day, with the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ».

The program for this intense week begins on Palm Sunday, March 24th. There will be Eucharists at 08:30 am (Church of Santo António), 10:00 am (Mass in English, at the Church of Santiago and at 11:00 am (Palm Sunday Eucharist at the Church of Santiago).

Easter Sunday “will be lived in a spirit of great joy and prayer, giving thanks for the delivery and resurrection of Christ for the remission of the sins of all men and women”, highlights the parish priest of Tavira.

At 09:00 am, at the Church of Santo António, there will be an Easter Eucharist, followed by Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament (from 10:00 am to 10:30 am) and a Procession, to the Church of Santiago. On this day there will be several Eucharists: at 11 am, in the Church of Santiago and at 00 pm, in the Church of Santa Luzia.

«We hope that this Easter can be lived in a spirit of unity and much prayer, whether for peace in the world, which is so desperately needed. It is necessary for all Catholics to unite and live the truth and in truth, full of hope, as Christ asked and as his resurrection teaches us", says Father Miguel Lopes Neto, concluding: "I wish everyone a Holy and Happy Easter!"
