Elections: Results published in Diário da República confirm AD victory

The total AD results from the sum of the result of the PSD/CDS/PPM coalition on the Mainland and Azores to that obtained by the PSD/CDS coalition in Madeira

The Democratic Alliance (AD) won the legislative elections on March 10 with 28,83% of the votes and 80 deputies, according to the official map published today in Diário da República, which maintained the distribution of mandates already published.

The PS was the second most voted party with 27,98% and 78 deputies.

The AD total results from the sum of the result of the PSD/CDS/PPM coalition on the Mainland and Azores – 28,01% and 77 deputies – to that obtained by the PSD/CDS coalition in Madeira, with 0,82% and three deputies.

The National Elections Commission (CNE) published today in the Official Gazette the official map with the results of the elections and the list of deputies elected to the Assembly of the Republic, after the provisional results from the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Internal Administration – Electoral Administration were announced in the early hours of Thursday, when the count of emigration circles was completed.

This CNE map includes the votes and percentages of the 18 political forces that ran for legislative elections in the 22 electoral districts, presenting the percentages in relation to the number of votes cast, excluding blank and invalid votes, unlike the results published by the Ministry of Internal Affairs on the internet.

According to the calculation by Agência Lusa, which includes the votes cast, blank and null, the two coalitions led by the PSD obtained 1.866.984 votes, corresponding to 28,83% of the total, electing 80 deputies (78 from the PSD and 2 from the CDS-PP ).

The PS came in second place, with 1.812.443 votes, 27,98% of the total (29,26% of votes cast), electing 78 deputies.

The electoral population was 10.813.643 registered and 6.476.952 voters voted, with an abstention rate of 40,1%. The number of blank votes was 89.847, 1,39%, and invalid votes were 192.396, 2,97%.

In third place, Chega, with 1.169.781 votes, 18,06% of the total, (18,88% of the votes cast), and 50 deputies, followed, in fourth place, by IL, with 319.877 votes, 4,94% of the total, (5,16% of the votes cast), and eight deputies.

BE is the fifth political force, with 282.314 votes, 4,36% of the total (4,56% of votes cast), and five deputies, and the sixth political force is the CDU (PCP and Greens), with 205.551 votes, 3,17% of the total (3,31% of votes cast), and four deputies.

Next comes Livre, also with four deputies, and 204.875 votes, 3,16% of the total (3,31% of votes cast), CDS-PP with two deputies (it is impossible to calculate what percentage of votes it has, given who ran in coalition with the PSD) and the PAN with a single deputy, 126.125 votes, 1,95% of the total (2,04% of the votes cast).

The remaining eleven competing political forces did not obtain parliamentary representation.
