The municipality of Vila Real de Santo António completed the renovation of the Athletics Track at the Sports Complex, a project valued at 500 thousand euros.
In a note, the municipality explains that this renovation included the total replacement of the track floor and covered all
sectors, with emphasis on the jumping corridors, the eight main corridors and the high and pole vault zones.
The equipment will now be certified by High Athletics, ensuring world-class quality and safety standards.
«The new track expects to attract around 5000 athletes/year, from almost 50 different countries, consolidating the Sports Complex as an international reference center for athletics», highlights the Municipality in a statement.
«With this intervention we are investing in the future of sport in our city and consolidating Vila Real de Santo António as a destination of excellence for athletics and major international sporting events», states the president of the Chamber of VRSA Álvaro Araújo.
The Vila Real de Santo António Sports Complex is a European-level High Performance Training Center (CAR), recognized by the International Federation of Athletics Associations (International Association of Athletics Federation – IAAF).
