The candidacy of the Alternative 21 coalition, which brings together the MPT – Partido da Terra and Aliança, to the Legislatures of March 10, was rejected in political circles. Faro and Beja.

In the advance vote, which took place yesterday, March 3, the Sul Informação found that, despite appearing on the ballot papers, voters are warned that this candidacy has been rejected.
The ruling of the Judicial Court of the District of Faro, consulted by our newspaper, explains that the application was not accepted due to a delay in the delivery of the lists.
«Until 18:00 pm on January 29, 2024, no entry was made to the Judicial Court of the District of Faro the coalition's candidacy. For this reason, it was not possible to publish the candidacy list within the deadline set by law», it reads.
The Alternative 21 coalition complains that the application was “submitted electronically within the deadline, having been sent by national representative José Inácio de Faria”.
«Due to the strike by judicial employees, the candidate felt the need to send applications by e-mail in order to guarantee their presentation to the district judge within the scheduled deadline and time», the order reads.
But the judge doesn't agree.
«And, it should not be said that the failure to submit the application directly to the court premises was not due to the strike by judicial employees. It is known that operations related to the electoral process are guaranteed by the minimum services that have been decreed. So much so, that the central unit of Faro it was open until 18:00 pm, and, on that day, the lists were posted in accordance with the provisions of article 26 of LEAR», he says.
«It is granted that the candidate lists do not have to be presented on paper at the central unit at the headquarters of the electoral district. Parties and coalitions can send the candidate list and other elements by post or even by email. It is important that the application is submitted on time (that is, until 18:00 pm on the last day for submitting applications) and at the appropriate location (in the central unit of the district capital headquarters). That was not what happened in the present case», he adds.
«In addition, the application on pages 526 and following was not presented by the representative of the list (Bruno Daniel Branco Lobato), nor by the designated (in the complaint under consideration) national representative (José Inácio Faria), but by Jorge Nuno de Sá », says the judge.
In the Beja constituency, the same thing also happened. According to the newspaper Lidador Notícias, Alternative 21 “delivered on the morning of the following day”.
