AMAL monitors the requalification of water supply systems in Lagos

Works included in the Recovery and Resilience Plan

The Algarve Intermunicipal Community (AMAL) visited this Wednesday, February 28th, three works carried out as part of the project to reduce water losses in the urban sector in Lagos that are included in the Recovery and Resilience Plan.

The 3 works visited by representatives of AMAL, APA and Câmara de Lagos are the “Replacement of Water Supply Conduits in Bensafrim”, which includes the replacement of the main supply conduit to Bensafrim, as well as the branches and connection conduits to the reservoir; the “Replacement of the Water Supply Network that Supplyes Bairro da Liberdade – Espiche”, which foresees, for example, the replacement of the water supply pipeline in Bairro da Liberdade and also branches and the “Improvement of Rua da Figueira, including
Replacement of the Water Supply Conduit – Light”, which, in addition to replacing the conduit, includes the execution of branches and the fire service.

These are three projects underway in the municipality of Lagos, and there are three others whose work has already been completed.

The works are included in the “Water Loss Reduction in the Municipality of Lagos – Renewal of Water Supply Networks with High Level of Real Losses” operation, which will allow, according to AMAL, to rehabilitate 4,57 kilometers of pipelines and obtain a reduction in real water losses of 22.839 cubic meters.

The amount approved in this application is 937.305 euros.

These are works included in the implementation of the measure “SM1 – Reduce water losses in the urban sector”, managed by AMAL, under the Algarve Regional Water Efficiency Plan. To implement this measure, a financing contract worth 43,9 million euros was signed with the “Recover Portugal” Mission Structure, with a view to rehabilitating failing supply systems and consequently reducing real water losses.
