Rector mourns the death of André Jordan, Doctor Honoris Causa at the University of Algarve

André Jordan died at age 90

Paulo Águas, rector of the University of Algarve (UAlg), lamented the death of André Jordan, which took place this Thursday, February 8th, remembering that, in 2011, UAlg granted the businessman the title Honoris Causa. 

In a note of regret, the rector of UAlg recalls that André Jordan was sponsored, in that ceremony, by Jorge Sampaio, former President of the Republic.

At the beginning of his speech, the businessman said that «this is, for me, a moment of great joy and emotion. Joy and emotions have always characterized my life in the Algarve, since I came here in 1970, and this ceremony is the culmination of a journey».

Furthermore, UAlg declared three days of academic mourning.

André Jordan's funeral will take place this Monday, February 12th, from 16pm, at the Parish Church of Nossa Senhora de Fátima, in Almancil.

Before that, the body of the businessman, who died yesterday, the 8th, will be, from 18pm to 00pm, in the Funeral Chapels of the Basilica da Estrela, in Lisbon.

On Monday, the 12th, the obsequies begin at 10:00 am with a celebration of body mass present, still in the Basilica da Estrela, followed by the funeral procession after 11:00 am to the Parish Church of Nossa Senhora de Fátima, in Almancil, where A funeral mass will be celebrated at 16:00 pm, then proceeding to the village cemetery.

André Jordan died at the age of 90.
