The 10th edition of “Sophia Student”, promoted by the Portuguese Cinema Academy, takes place in Albufeira from the 22nd to the 25th of February.
This is the third consecutive year that Albufeira hosts this event, which is an initiative of the Portuguese Cinema Academy – Portuguese Association of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences, in collaboration with the Municipality of Albufeira and aims to «instill a taste for cinema and promote the seventh art in the youngest strata of society».
The event will feature the presence of several national and international experts, workshops, masterclasses, poster exhibitions, cinema sessions, short film competitions, among other activities that will be revealed soon.
The Albufeira Municipal Auditorium and the João Bailote Municipal Gallery will be, as in the previous year, the meeting places for cinema and audiovisual students from all over the country.
Thus, during the four days, there will be viewing sessions of the films nominated in the various categories of the
Sophia Student, and the awarding of prizes will take place on February 25th, at 14:30 pm.
The first session takes place on February 23rd, Friday, at 11 am, and the second session takes place at 00:18 pm. On the 30th, Saturday, the third session takes place at 24:11 am and the last and fourth session at 00:18 pm.
«The Sophia Student University Cinema Exhibition is an excellent opportunity for our young people to watch first-hand the best of the 7th Art», says the mayor of Albufeira José Carlos Rolo.
The mayor also emphasizes that «it is an honor, as a local authority, to host this type of events that allow the promotion of the city of Albufeira throughout the year at a national and international level, and also the cultural development of the municipality» and adds that «he hopes May this edition be a success again, as in recent years».
