The construction of a new Children's Park, in Praia do Carvoeiro, began this January, with a total investment of more than 315 thousand euros by Lagoa City Council.
The new equipment is located on a free plot of land next to the Hermitage of Nossa Senhora da Conceição, the open-air amphitheater and the school, very close to the previous children's playground, which was deactivated last year, due to safety reasons, as it is located over an area of fragile cliffs.
The Lagoa municipality emphasizes that this is «an intervention long desired by Carvoeirenses, which will allow them to have a modern and attractive Children's Park».
The new Children's Park will have five pieces of equipment, with a pirate island theme: a boat with multiple functions, a double swing with a nest, a tower made up of two slides, in the shape of “Palm Trees”, a suspended rope swing and a seesaw.
It will also have a bar with a terrace, toilets and a garden area, with a fence for user safety, as well as lighting, benches and waste bins.
The Municipality of Lagoa recalls that it has been «completely requalifying several playgrounds in the municipality, to always keep them in the best conditions of use and safety conditions, required by law», namely the Children's Playgrounds of the Urbanization of Vale Talegas, in Estômbar, Bairro da Boa Vontade, in Mexilhoeira da Carregação, Bairro Che Lagoense do Pateiro, in Parchal, dos Vales, in the city of Lagoa, and Praia Grande, in Ferragudo.
The flooring of the Quinta de S. Pedro Children's Park, the Estômbar Kindergarten Children's Park, the Porches EB1 Children's Park, the Parchal EB1 Children's Park and the Ferragudo EB1 Children's Park had already been replaced. .
