15 Portuguese tennis players, including Francisco Rocha, Rodrigo Fernandes and Gonçalo Falcão (ranked 935th, 1192nd and 1663rd in the ATP rankings, respectively), will try to reach the main table of yet another edition of the Faro Open, which started today, Sunday, and lasts until March 3rd.

These athletes who participate in the qualifying phase of the tournament, where «almost 50% of the 32 participants from 14 countries» are included, hope to join the other Portuguese who are registered in the main table of the Faro Open, including Jaime Faria (391st), the best ranked among the Portuguese delegation.

This tennis player will reach the competition in Faro after standing out in the VRSA International Open, where today he discusses the singles final of an ITF M25 in Vila Real de Santo António, where this Saturday he won the doubles title alongside João Domingues.

Before that, the 15 athletes who are still looking for a place in the main table enter the field.

«Francisco Rocha (ranked 935th in the ATP ranking), Rodrigo Fernandes (1192nd) and Gonçalo Falcão (1663rd) are the best ranked among the Portuguese delegation seeking to qualify for the main table and respectively defend the status of sixth, ninth and 13th seed. Tomás Almeida, Illia Stoliar, Ricardo Batista, Daniel Batista and the wild cards Valentin de Carvalho, Tomás Cortez, João Maria Soares, Tomás Tenil and Daniel Marincas complete the group of Portuguese participants in the qualifying table.

This is an international tournament worth 25 thousand dollars, belonging to the ITF M25 category, organized by the Tennis and Padel Center of Faro and has the support of the Municipal Council of Faro and the Portuguese Tennis Federation.

O Faro Open is the international tournament organized for the longest time in Portugal and in 2024 it celebrates its 34th edition including the women's and men's events, which has been carried out uninterruptedly since 1994.
