The construction of the Fontainhas Home, Home Support and Day Care Center can now begin, after the construction contract assignment notice was signed, on the 7th, between the Albufeira City Council and the company Telhabel – Construções SA. The work will cost around 8,3 million euros.
According to the municipality, the contract had been signed on August 3rd of last year and then sent to the Court of Auditors. The only change evident in the report concerns the deadline for carrying out the work, which is now 510 days.
This new social equipment will respond to 131 users, with the Nursing Home able to accommodate 61 people, the Home Support facility, 20, and the Day Center will accommodate 50 users.
The land for this new equipment, located in Fontainhas, is 2,8 hectares in size and consists of three plots: one of them is for equipment, the other is a rural area and the third plot will be for agricultural use.
With two entrances, this social complex will preserve as much as possible the trees already on the land.
The contract foresees the construction of a main building and an annexe with technical support areas, as well as access roads, parking and arrangements for the surrounding outdoor spaces.
The main building comprises the residential structure for elderly people (ERPI), in addition to the day center and home support facilities, including social and support areas.
There will also be the construction of an annex, with the lower floor being used for technical areas to support the main building and, in the exterior spaces, there will be water reservoirs (fire, consumption and irrigation), as well as an emergency center and a transformation station. .
“We want to believe that this new support structure for the senior population of Albufeira will be completed at the end of 2025”, said José Carlos Rolo, president of the City Council, which is expected to be, this month, the laying of the first stone, in a public ceremony .
The company hopes that everything runs smoothly, especially as it has already carried out other works in the municipality of Albufeira, namely the Olhos de Água Home, Day Care Center and Day Care Center and the Guia Day Care Center.
The mayor highlights his commitment to “sustainable aging” in the Municipality of Albufeira, either through the various support for IPSS, in order to encourage aging that promotes the capabilities of users and that they are properly monitored and valued.
On the other hand, the focus is also on physical reception structures, with comfort and quality of life in mind. In other words, concludes the mayor, “my concern revolves around the concept of care, which urgently needs to be rethought step by step, both from the perspective of the provision of care and from the perspective of those who receive it. We want Albufeira to effectively be a municipality that knows how to care and take good care”.
