“Caminheiros” gets everyone walking again in Alcoutim and Sanlúcar de Guadiana

The hiking festival is back on its original date, March

The Alcoutim and Sanlúcar de Guadiana hiking festival “Caminheiros – Experiencia na Fronteira” will take place again between the 15th and 17th of March, to promote «sustainable tourism, highlighting the natural, cultural and gastronomic beauties of the region», announced the Alcoutim Chamber.

In its 10th edition, the “Caminheiros” festival takes place again in March, at the end of winter, after, in 2023, took place at two different times, in August and September.

This festival offers «from walks along the Guadiana River to kayaking trips», during which «participants can witness stunning sunsets, explore medieval castles under the cover of night and discover the secrets of beekeeping in the Algarve mountains».

The event also includes «a unique mix of gastronomic experiences, such as homemade bread workshops and tastings of local products».

«Whether in the broad landscapes of Serro de Panóias, on the trails along the Guadiana, or stargazing, each walk offers not only a physical journey, but a connection with the rich ecological and cultural heritage of this region. “Caminheiros” is an opportunity to explore, learn and experience the Algarve in a truly unique and engaging way», according to Alcoutim City Council.
